Turkish School
Turkish language & culture
A warm, structured Saturday program for school-aged children. From first words to confident reading, writing, and conversation, alongside the rich culture and heritage behind the language.
Where the language comes alive.
Turkish runs at our Dallas and Wollongong campuses (Prep to Year 10), and at Guildford in Sydney (Kindy to Year 6, with Quran and Islamic studies).
Every Saturday, students are grouped by year level and language experience, so beginners and heritage speakers alike are supported to progress. Lessons are hands-on and engaging, and cover all four language strands alongside culture and values:
Across the year, students will:
- Build confidence speaking and understanding everyday Turkish, from greetings and family to school, food, and daily life.
- Learn to read and write in Turkish, developing phonics, spelling, and handwriting appropriate to each year level.
- Grow vocabulary and grammar steadily, so students can form sentences, ask questions, and tell simple stories.
- Explore Turkish culture, traditions, history, and values, strengthening identity and connection to heritage.
- Develop a genuine love of the language through songs, games, stories, and hands-on activities.
- Complement mainstream schooling, supporting students who study Turkish (LOTE) at their day school.
More than language.
Culture & Ethics studies
Alongside Turkish (LOTE), students learn Turkish culture and ethics, building cultural knowledge, understanding, and values.
A magazine for every student
Every child enrolled in the Turkish School receives a magazine to support their learning and cultural studies.
Optional 12–1pm lessons
Families can opt into additional Turkish Culture & Ethics lessons from 12:00 to 1:00pm, after the morning program.
Enrol your child in Turkish and give them a confident, lasting connection to their language and heritage.
